J Loren Norris
I have enjoyed a very successful law enforcement career. I have had the opportunity to spend the last 26 years serving in various positions such as Child and Elderly Abuse Investigator, Special Agent, Law Enforcement Lieutenant, Global Security Investigator, and Assistant Director of Security. In those roles, I conducted investigations of child/elder abuse, environmental crimes, Medicaid/White Collar fraud, workman compensation/employee accident & injury, and crimes and safety accidents that occurred onboard cruise ships. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, a Master's degree in Management, a Master's in Education/Curriculum & Instruction, and a Doctorate of Education/Leadership and Management. In addition to my law enforcement career, I also serve as an Adjunct Professor teaching Criminal Justice courses.
In addition to my degrees, I have also obtained the following certifications: Certified Workplace Violence and Threat Specialist, Crime Prevention Practitioner Designation, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner Designation, Elder Crime Practitioner Designation, School Resource Officer Practitioner Designation, and am currently obtaining the Peace and Justice Practitioner Certificate.
I am very passionate about merging my experiences in law enforcement experience and as an educator to help others excel in their future goals, personally, professionally, or academically. As a multi-faceted leader, I have assisted organizations advocate, plan, coordinate, and implement policy updates, professional development opportunities, and compliance oversight to improve operational efficiency. In addition to representing organizations in several local, county, and state initiatives, such as Threat Assessment Teams, Emergency Response and Management Teams, Safe Walk Committee, Community meetings, and other district safety/security initiatives focused on crime prevention.
I am most proud of my involvement in creating crime prevention programs for parents, employees, community stakeholders, and students specifically focused on workplace violence, cyberbullying domestic violence, and juvenile diversion and intervention. These initiatives served as the foundation for my doctoral research, which focused on reducing juvenile arrests and discipline through diversion, intervention, and education. In June 2021, my program was piloted through a partnership with the Montgomery Housing Authority. Camp PRIDE (Preventing Rebelliousness with Intervention and Diversion Education) had at-risk juvenile participants who provided positive feedback on their experience in the program.
I enjoy being a change agent and look forward to serving your individual or organizational needs.
