We Exist to Save Lives

The PRIDE program is a school initiative designed to address student disciplinary acts and specific non-violent behavioral infraction that would normally lead to a arrest and subsequent introduction into the juvenile justice system.

PRIDE also serves students who have committed infractions related to bullying and harassment.

Goal of PRIDE

• To provide early identification and intervention to students exhibiting behavioral or attendance problems, have committed minor delinquent offenses, and are assessed to be at risk for future delinquency.
• This pre arrest program primarily seeks to reduce juvenile arrests, recidivism, while increasing student engagement, restorative justice and accountability.
• The goal of the program is to assist students with avoiding criminal records, absenteeism, or court costs, upon successful completion of the program.
• This program aligns with OCPS’ Mission and Goals “to lead our students with the support and involvement of families and the community”.

• Reduces student discipline and arrests – participants that successfully complete the program avoid arrest records.
• Accountability Swift Justice – the program allows for immediate response to student offenses with referrals into the program within 24 hours of committed offense.
• Cost Savings – Court costs associated with juvenile arrests are reduced.
• Streamline processes for SSOs – participation in the program does not require any additional paperwork or oversight.
• Increased Intervention- participation in the program provides additional opportunities to identify and provide referrals for resources such as mental health counseling, etc.
